September & October Update

The last couple of months have seemed such busy months. I travelled to both Griffith and Albury to visit those women where there is no dedicated shop supplying post surgery lingerie and clothing. I really enjoy meeting the women  and hearing their stories. Being able to help them is truly a feel good situation.  I look forward to visiting those towns in the coming months.

As well, my family is very involved with the annual relay for life, which is held in October, so it was our last chance for fundraising.

We held a monstrous garage sale, which was a great chance to clean out our cupboards and raise much-needed funds for cancer council.

I also travelled to Murrumbateman, a small town near Canberra, where family members hosted a garden party. It was a great day with lovely weather, great company and lots and lots of delicious food accompanied with a glass of bubbly.

Relay for life weekend was a great time for getting together with family, meeting other people, and sharing community spirit.  To date, $120,000 has been raised this year in my local area. My family have been participating as a team over the past eight years. Over that time we have seen many changes, many different faces and shared many experiences. As a family touched by cancer we’re passionate about finding a cure. Relay for life is just one way in which we can help with much needed money for research.

 Breast Cancer Care Gala Dinner

I also attended a fundraising gala dinner held by the Foundation for Breast Cancer Care: an organisation raising funds for research into breast cancer treatment.

I will shortly host my annual pink high tea and fashion parade while supporting the local breast-cancer group. I will be sure to share this day with you later.

As it is October–the pink month–many people focus on breast cancer and breast cancer awareness. I hope, somehow, that you’re able to show your support and help find a cure.
